![]() ![]() ![]() Now that we are back to a more normal sense of business it will also be interesting to see how many restaurants stick to aggregator deliveries, because their fees are high and in some cases the delivery fee is high to the consumer. Interesting to see the sale of some grocery items through a restaurant like Taco Villa and Texas Burger. Gerety: I cannot speak for our competitors’ promotions, but it is fair to say that without aggregators (Door Dash, Uber eats, Grub Hub) many restaurants would be closed forever. MRT: What was the best promotion/adjustment that you heard a restaurant doing during the pandemic? Even with the pandemic calming down, the restaurant industry has learned, and the awareness factor has grown that viral transmissions between people is an easy occurrence, and we cannot take that for granted any longer. We will always have our pick-up window open during business hours at those stores with the option. We will continue to focus on curbside delivery at our stores. Gerety: There are already adjustments made due to the pandemic that will be permanent. MRT: Will there be any adjustments made to the way you did business? Our customers were so appreciative of our efforts initially to provide pizza to the hospitals and first responders. Gerety: Loyalty to our brand has remained strong. MRT: What did you learn about your customers during the pandemic? We do pride ourselves in consistently providing the fastest delivery times in the Permian Basin versus our pizza competitors or the Uber and Door Dash users. Once the sit-down restaurants were allowed to reopen for delivery or take out only we saw a calming effect on our sales volume. Gerety: We were impacted initially during the shutdown with higher volume sales since most sit-down restaurants were shuttered for six weeks. MRT: From the conversations that you had with others, were those in delivery impacted more or less than traditional sit-down restaurants? We are hopeful to see customers use their personal discretion in the future.
